Learn to Fly Fish Classes - Nashua

I was happy to hear that some folks who visit this board attended the Fly Tying class last Saturday at Nashua Library. In March and April there will be a (Free) Learn to Fly Fish Class for beginners and intermediates. This is a series of five 2-hour classes. Four sessions at the library (March 16, 23, 30 and April 6) and a 2-hour casting clinic on the water April 25. Click on the title of this entry to go to the calendar page of the Nashua Library to register for the class. The class is jointly sponsored by Merrimack River Valley TU chapter and NH Fish and Game Let's Go Fishing Program. I will be the primary instructor. Space is limited, so sign up early.
BTW, if you missed the Fly Tying class in Nashua, the class will be given again this Saturday, January 31, in Manchester, NH. To register go to http://www.manchester.lib.nh.us click on Upcoming Events.

Br-r-r-r

Even here in Florida, the cold front has taken its toll on the fishing. Probably another week or so before things begin to warm up. In the mean time, here are a couple things to take a look at:
The Puffer fish caught on a shrimp fly!

And another bit of an odd-duck type of fish - the Lady fish!

Florida Flats Fishing

Went solo to the Charlotte Harbor flats. Weather perfect. ~80F and very light breeze.

Fish were a little more cooperative, too! Here is a nice trout that fell for a pink shrimp/Clouser.

Flats of Charlotte Harbor

Dick Davidson and I fished the flats of Charlotte Harbor. Very little access without a boat, but last year I found a little-used wading access point. There was a very low tide in the morning, excellent for wading, but the breeze was up and impossible to sight-fish. Nothing but sea trout and puffer fish, no redfish this trip.

First report of 2009 - Happy New Year!

Gang, sorry to be so long between posts. I hope to be able to post something appropriate soon. In the meantime, be sure to hit the Rockingham Expo in Salem, NH this weekend. TU will have a booth and my guiding partner Jim Norton is giving a presentation about fishing the large rivers of NH. Until then, enjoy this "Fishless Fishing Report" from Florida.
